This guide to the 10 best things you can do in Toronto is based on my research and travel experience in Toronto during my lifetime. This post, originally published in September 2017, was updated in July 2019. My last trip to Toronto in May 2017 was organized by Tourism Ontario. Thanks to Tourism Ontario for their hospitality and for bringing me back to Toronto. This post also contains some associated links. As an Amazon collaborator, I make money from qualified purchases.

I have traveled to Canada’s largest city four times in the last three decades. From my first visit as a 10-year-old on a family vacation to my last visit as a professional travel and food writer, I have experienced a wide variety of attractions and activities in Ontario. With a variety of museums, unique neighborhoods, and a diverse culinary scene, Ontario offers many things to explore on a weekend getaway.

If you are visiting Toronto for the first time, I hope my list of the 10 best things you can do in Ontario will be a useful starting point when planning your trip. I’ve also included bonus ideas if you have extra time, are a returning visitor looking for off-road activity, or are on a trip and could add a destination near Toronto as a day trip.

If you want to access this post offline and use GPS navigation to the attractions I recommend, you can download the free GPSmyCity app and take this Ontario guide with you. Want to know more about how GPSmyCity works? I wrote about the application in this post.

When reading this post, it is important to know that all prices are in Canadian dollars, unless otherwise noted. Currently, the Canadian crazy is worth 76 cents in US currency. For my fellow travelers from America, now is a financially good time to visit our northern neighbors.

The Best Things You Can Do in Toronto:-

1. Take a Look From the Cn Tower

The Canadian National Tower, which is iconic for the cityscape and offers a 360 ° view of Ontario from a bird’s eye view, is visited by 1.5 million tourists each year. If you are on your first visit to Ontario, consider a tour of Toronto, which includes entry to the two CN Tower viewing levels.

If you’ve visited CN Tower before, consider a lookout for experience – dining or adventure. For adventurous souls, head out with EdgeWalk – the highest hands-free external walk around the building in the world. Don’t worry – you’ll be strapped! During my last visit, I ate at Restaurant 360. As I enjoyed a meal of Canadian wine, fresh tomatoes, and seafood on Fogo Island, the dining room turned and offered stunning sunset views over the Toronto skyline.

2. Eat at the St. Lawrence Market

This historic marketplace has been a culinary destination in Ontario since 1803 and has 120 vendors including farmers, bakers, butchers, and artisans. Grow from stall to stall or shop for groceries and make your own dinner at your Airbnb rental. If you want a real Toronto classic, try the peameal bacon sandwich at Carousel Bakery. Do you want the locals to show you the market? Taste Jewish bagels, Ukrainian pierogis, and local cheeses at the guided food tour of old Toronto and St. Lawrence Market!

3. Walk the Canadian Walk of Fame

Is anyone else in love with Brandon Walsh of Beverly Hills, 90210? Only me? I was a little crazy when I found the name and autograph of my baby celebrity on King Street West. Like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Canadian Walk of Fame features actors, directors, producers, and musicians. However, the Canadian Walk of Fame also brings a wider range of professions, including writers, cartoonists, models, playwrights, athletes, and coaches.

4. Indulge in the Art

Are you interested in ceramics, fashion, paintings, or sculpture? Do you enjoy watching musicals on Broadway? If you enjoy learning about art, Toronto has a lot to see. During my first two visits, I saw the Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theater. Now called the Ed Mirvish Theater, it remains one of several royal theaters where you can see performances in Ontario.

5. Take a Tourist Photo

If you didn’t make the trip, on Instagram or Facebook, did it really happen? Of course, yes. But isn’t it much more fun to share your trip with friends and family at home? Those of us who are not ashamed of tourist photography has some remarkable settings for shots that are perfectly worthy of Instagram. Get your smartphones and cameras ready!

6. A Visit to Toronto With Children? Go to the Ontario Science Center

Well, this proposal will take you outside of Ontario, but it pays to go by car if you visit Ontario with children. It’s true that it’s been 20 years since I last visited a science center in Ontario on a high school tour, but I still remember the baseball field of the sports arena. Although the sports exhibition is now leased to other museums, the permanent collection includes Living Earth. There, young explorers can walk through the rainforest, crawl through the cave, touch the tornado and see a coral reef and poison darts.

7. Walk Along Graffiti Alley

Street art seekers are a place where you can find live murals and graffiti in Toronto. I recommend spending 30 minutes to an hour walking down Rush Lane. If that’s not enough to quench your thirst for street art, Tourism Toronto has a comprehensive guide to finding other street art in Toronto. You can also learn more about Toronto’s colorful street art at this free graffiti show.

8. Drink Local Craft Beer

Move, Molson! There’s a lot more going on in the Toronto beer scene these days. During my recent visit, my first stop was the Amsterdam BrewHouse overlooking Lake Ontario from what was voted one of the best lakeside terraces in Toronto. It is definitely a popular destination for gaming days and the Rogers Center Stadium in Toronto’s Blue Jays is just a 10-minute walk away. With 480 seats outside and another 500 inside, you may be able to squeeze in on a beer flight even in the busiest times. certainly yes. At Amsterdam BrewHouse you can choose a flight from pre-arranged options and there is a full menu. Baked vegetable and goat cheese pizza is delicious.

9. Enjoy the Skyline of Harbor and the Toronto Islands

One of the best views of the Ontario waterfront panorama is from the Islands. From the ferry port in the city center, you can take a ferry to the islands in 10 minutes. If you don’t have time to visit the Islands, you’ll find many things to see and photograph along the waterfront, including Lake Ontario, sailboats, skyscrapers, and the CN Tower, which views the buildings. This bustling neighborhood in the city center also hosts lively weekend festivals and events.

10. Taste the Diverse Dining Scene in Toronto

Last but not least, you should not miss the Ontario culinary scene. With a diverse population in Ontario, you will find Korean, Chinese, Italian, Indian, German, Jamaican and all kinds of ethnic cuisines. I’ll let your mouth start watering this tempting ice cream cone in the picture below. The vanilla delicate portion called Red Rapture is covered with red velvet cake and breadcrumbs, cream-cheese icing, and raspberry puree from Sweet Jesus in downtown Toronto.
