THE EFFECTS OF ONLINE LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE

With today’s advanced technology one can access Knowledge at one’s fingertips. For most of us, the traditional form of face-to-face learning was the only option to gain knowledge. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has given rise to e-learning, or virtual learning, an entirely new method that has proven extremely effective. Online learning controls the learning process using computers and the Internet, both inside and outside the institution.

This method of learning is a new approach adopted by many colleges and universities, especially in recent years, to teach students effectively. The online learning environment influences creative interaction, the active learning environment, and curriculum planning. In an online learning environment, teachers give their students the guidance they need to succeed while remaining independent.

THE EFFECTS OF ONLINE LEARNING ON STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE

Here is a clear picture of the effect of online learning on student performance. As it has already stepped into the global market, it is making its way further to reach its full potential (helpwithdissertation, 2021)

Along with all the challenges a student faces when studying online, there are many pros and cons. Some of the positive effects of online learning on students include improved learning efficiency as they can hire someone to take my online class in affordability, better student attendance, etc.

Online learning and technology go hand in hand. The use of technology has facilitated the entire learning process. With the help of modern advanced technology, one can easily find the solution needed for a problem. The use of technology enables students to conduct research and gain benefits in all walks of life.

In addition, there are countless apps that make it easier for teachers to share material with their students and help them understand it better. This practical aspect of learning improves the academic performance of students.

Online learning is very effective for both students and teachers. Students can easily find literature, school supplies, and multimedia content that makes learning easier and more fun. In addition, students can ask experienced teachers to do my online class for me in case of confusion. On the other hand, teachers can share assignments and reading materials with just one click across various online platforms specially designed to make teaching and learning easier. This results in improving students’ academic performance.

Another great effect of online learning is that students are in control of their time and have flexible study schedules to accommodate other aspects of their lives. Students find a balance between the academic aspect of their life and social life. So online presence contributed to their learning performance (Yang, 2016). This results in the psychological well-being of students which results in improved academic performance.

When students consider the costs they incur when taking traditional face-to-face classes, such as transportation, meals, and lodging, they understand that online classes are much more affordable. When a student studies online, he doesn’t have to use a vehicle to reach his destination.

Also, online learners can eat anything available at home. So they can enjoy home-cooked meals. The most important consideration in this regard is that they don’t have to pay for accommodation as they can attend all courses conveniently at home. This reduces the expenditures of students. So they don’t need to work part-time. This helps students focus on their studies which enhances their academic performance.

By taking online courses, a student can turn any place at home into a school. While traditional classes offer an environment tailored to the needs of large groups of students, online classes allow students to customize any location to suit their needs.

In a home environment, students can learn better by choosing the most suitable learning environment.  They can have all the facilities they need to continue studying more productively, ultimately leading to higher student attendance which results in improved academic performance.

Despite all the aforementioned benefits that online learning offers, there are certainly some downsides to this unique learning experience. Technical issues, extra screen time, lack of motivation, and feelings of isolation can be issues students face when taking online classes.

There are clearly drawbacks to this specific learning experience, despite all the benefits of virtual learning that were previously discussed. While taking online classes, both students and teachers may encounter difficulty with technology, more screen time, a loss of enthusiasm, and a sense of isolation.

The brief list of drawbacks is extended by the fact that online learning typically demands more self-discipline. Accountability is improved through participating in a community and physically attending lessons. A student may lack the self-discipline to remain interested in the courses themselves if they feel they are not receiving appropriate supervision.

However, since they improve responsibility, taking virtual, live classrooms rather than merely online courses is the answer to this issue. For instance, live tests aid in real-time comprehension evaluation, while breakout areas encourage group interaction. These resources encourage discipline and responsibility while maintaining kids’ interest for extended periods of time.

The traditional disadvantages of online learning are related to technical problems. Technical issues destroy virtual classrooms like audio, video, or connection issues. In the past, students often had to download time-consuming and inconsistent applications. Fortunately, Internet connectivity has improved a lot. People’s devices have been greatly improved, resulting in a better experience for online learners.

One negative effect of online learning is that it creates a sense of isolation for students. It is true that all students have different learning styles and different approaches. Some can work individually, while others prefer to do it on their campus with easy access to professors or other students. This lack of direct interaction fails to generate a sense of competition which badly affects the student’s academic performance.

However, online classes have helped fill these gaps by creating a sense of community in the online space. It is encouraging tool development through which students participate in active, live classes. Online learning is trying to support and enhance social learning.

One of the biggest negative effects of online learning on students is the extra screen time. They are exposed to technology and screen for a long time. Unfortunately, online learning exacerbates this problem. Screen time can cause a number of physical problems such as poor posture. However, it can also be a personal problem for students who find it difficult to study or concentrate on screens.

The online learning process usually requires a heightened sense of self-discipline. Joining a group and physically attending class increases responsibility. If a student feels that he is not receiving proper guidance, he may choose not to attend classes.

Ultimately, online learning can affect learners in many ways. There are times when students struggle and there are times when they have fun and enjoy the experience.

The technical challenges, increased screen time, feelings of isolation, and other negative effects of online learning are replaced by the positive aspects of this online experience such as accessibility, and efficiency. But whichever way the process unfolds, it is important to cherish this innovative experience along the way.
