The Best Gift Ideas for Cycling

Before, I did a gift guide post or two, but now it’s time for a “super post” featuring the very best cycling gifts. You might want to stop carrying mugs and socks that are covered in motorcycles, and you may want to stop wearing shirts that say “Cyclist” (yes, I did have that one year). Knowing as I do that I ride 80 to 150 miles a week, I know the right gift for a cyclist in your life will be practical gear that will make the ride smoother, or perhaps even more fun.

We regularly review and test new products at Bicycling, so we know exactly which gifts to recommend, no matter if the cyclist is new to the sport or a seasoned rider. From new tires to gear for their next mountain adventure, to cool jerseys for them to wear while they are riding, this guide is full of great gift ideas. Additionally, with some companies returning to the office, people who commute to work might require transportation in order to get to work. Why not get a bike (along with some accessories)?

Dido Sports Cycling T-Shirt

Any outfit would not be complete without a shirt or T-shirt. You’re not only unable to find urban cycling shorts you like just because you cycle around town.

Discovering and showcasing stylish cycling clothes for urban commuters is the goal of Discerning Cyclist. Find clothing that looks good and offers discreet cycling functionality. There are two types of cycling t-shirts: those designed for riding that is functional and stylish, and those designed to show what people love about biking. While functional cycling tees are more important to me than looks, others merely want to share their passion for cycling – not necessarily on the bike.

Theragun Mini

Whenever a cyclist completes a challenging ride, he or she needs some recovery time. You should drink lots of water, eat something rich in protein, and take care of your muscles. Even though most cyclists follow a routine after a ride, a good massage gun makes a world of difference in their recovery process. You’ll find a great collection of massage guns in our store, but the Theragun Mini is the most portable and compact of them all. This is the best choice for someone who wants an easy-to-transport massage gun.

Custom Polar Bottle

Among cyclists, polar bottles are common.Their price is reasonable, the insulation works well and they have a catch ring so you can grab them out of the cage when you want a drink.Polar bottles can be found almost anywhere, but for a unique gift, you can get a custom bottle wrapped with a logo or a totally unique design. Prices will differ depending on the size you get, but most cages are large enough to accommodate the larger 24-ounce bottles, which start at $10.It’ll make you smile big time.

Apple Watch Series 7

If you own an iPhone, you have long had the best health accessory for your wrist: the Apple Watch. Aside from being an excellent fitness tracker, it also offers fall detection and advanced heart-monitoring tools that are useful for people who aren’t looking to run a marathon. Lisa Eadicicco’s review describes this year’s model as not being the biggest upgrade ever, but a larger screen and slightly improved battery are major pluses for anyone interested in using a fitness tracker for more than just workouts.

OMBRAZ DOLOMITE SUNGLASSES

The perfect sunglasses for someone who always loses their sunglasses. To stop them from launching away from you, they use sturdy ropes instead of traditional arms. The grippy nose keeps them in place, even when riding in sweat.

Under Leggings

CNET Health and Wellness editors’ favorite workout clothes are these Wunder Under leggings. With these, you won’t feel restricted or hot when doing any kind of workout. Better yet, with so many options available, like this trendy tie-dye pair, they come in all kinds of colors, sizes, and lengths.

TIMBER QUICK-RELEASE MOUNTAIN BIKE BELL

A Timber Bell is a must for mountain bikers who ride mixed-use trails. While it can be awkward getting used to the constant bell, it’s worth it in order to alert other trail users to your presence (and it’s easy to shut it off when it’s safe).

Cetma Cargo 5L Bike Rack

Artist Timothy Uriah Steele, who rides his bike to his Sunset Park studio every day, told us that anyone who intends to ride a bike with medium to large objects will need a rack like this one. There’s only so much you can carry on your back,” he acknowledges, and “this bike rack was designed by a bike messenger for the front of your bike. In addition to being “very basic,” Steele says the rack disperses weight well so that you never feel your bike being pulled one way or the other. There is “in the know” status among cyclists, he says, and people are even using it to haul cardboard boxes of goods.

Alpine Luddites Pinnacle Rucksack

A large backpack like this would be the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys going on multi-day bike trips, says Andrew Crooks of NYC Velo. The backpack is a “recreation of a classic French mountaineering bag but made of modern materials,” meaning that it looks smart and is still durable, and can hold a lot of items. He also appreciates the backpack’s craftsmanship, which is all handmade.

POC VPD AIR LEGS Knee Pads

Adventure journalist Morgan Tilton recently started using these POC kneepads after recently using these kneepads for the first time. Over the past two decades, my shins and patellas have sustained horrific injuries. She wondered how I’d managed that. They are “lightweight and sleek,” she says. They contour to my kneecap seamlessly. It makes them more giftable since they’re essential year-round, according to Tilton. She notes that while the extra layer doesn’t bake her in the summer, it provides a comfortable barrier against wind chill on autumn rides.

Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel Bike Gloves

Pearl Izumi gloves are liked by Selzer thanks to their thoughtful construction that considers the differences between male and female hands. Historically, women complained that companies would simply shrink and pink their gear. However, Pearl Izumi doesn’t just put men’s palm pads into waterproof gloves women resize them.”Instead, women’s palm pads are smaller than men’s since their hands are generally smaller.”

Velocio Micromodal Trail Tee, Men’s

There’s a trail tee that Tilton says she keeps wearing for my daily adventures that are somewhere between Lampasona’s novelty T-shirt and Evans’ cycling jersey. According to her, this cycling shirt is superior because of its extended sleeves and buttery soft material that prevent sunburn and chafing when she wears a backpack. A further feature she appreciates is its “longer hem,” which keeps her skin protected even when she lifts or pushes her bicycle over obstacles.

RIDE CONCEPTS HELLION ELITE SHOES

There’s no one reason why the Hellion Elite stands in front of the pyramid of trail/all-mountain flat-pedal shoes right now, but everything about it is right. It’s a shoe almost to perfection.

Sun Dolphin Aruba 10-foot sit-in kayak

The unit measures 10 feet long and 30 inches wide, and it is capable of holding up to 250 pounds. It features an adjustable padded seat, adjustable cord deck rigging, carries handles, adjustable foot braces, thigh pads, a storage compartment, and a water bottle holder.

DeskCycle Ellipse under-desk mini elliptical

We who work at desks can be particularly hard on our joints, circulation, and general health by sitting for too long. A small elliptical machine beneath your desk will keep you fit even while you’re at work.
