SEMrush Or Moz: which is the best SEO tool?

SEMrush Or Moz

Do you think you can be satisfied with the free version of the SEO tools available online to advance the SEO of your business website?

I too thought about this for several months when starting #mohsinbge.

I signed up for the free versions of SEMrush, Moz, and many other SEO tools like Ahrefs.

Of course, I also use the Google Ads Keyword Planner a lot to help me find the right keywords for my web content.

But, SEO Expert Laurent had warned me:

Very quickly, you will find that the Google AdWords keyword planning tool and the free SEO tools are no longer sufficient. You will surely have to choose in Moz and SEMrush.

This is why to analyze my keywords and my position compared to my competitors, I finally decided to invest first in Moz and then, a few months later, in SEMrush.

And frankly, I was far from imagining the time saving and the lost opportunities.

With tools like SEMrush and Moz, you go deep into your SEO to achieve truly amazing results for your blog and / or business website.

If you are reading this article, you are probably about to subscribe to one of these SEO tools.

Surely you’ve tried the free version of these tools and are wondering if it’s worth upgrading to the paid versions.

Then you have come to the right place.

And for those who have not yet tried the free versions of these SEO tools, after reading this article you will know:

  • Not only, the main functionalities of these 2 tools,
  • But also how I use them to develop my business.

In this article, I’m going to go through these 2 SEO tools that are some of the most popular by comparing their features, ease of use, and cost of the subscription.

SEMrush: competitive research and business intelligence

If you read me regularly, you know the importance of keywords for your SEO on the Internet.

But never forget that you are not fighting against Google but against your competition.

So knowing how you rank on the keywords you hold dear compared to your competition is crucial. And that is exactly the goal of the SEMrush tool.

In addition to the Google Ads keyword planning tool, you will easily identify keywords with low competition to create and/or optimize content that will end up higher in the search engine results pages. research.

The features of the paid version of SEMrush

Site audit:

This is for me the best feature offered by SEMrush.
With one click, you launch a site audit to identify problems on your business website. Then SEMrush explains why these are issues and guides you to correct them. You save precious time on all these technical aspects.

In the end, SEMrush gives you a score out of 100 to assess the “health” of your site.

As you can see above my blog score is 90%!

Position tracking

Select up to 100 keywords to see how your website ranks on search engines.

This allows you to monitor your site’s performance and decide on the necessary optimizations to ensure that your ranking is progressing correctly.

Backlinks

As you know, SEO depends a lot on the number of backlinks, their relevance, and their quality.

With SEMrush, you identify inbound links (or backlinks) to your own site. But since the tool accepts any URL, you also analyze the backlinks of your competitors to discover new opportunities.

Here is the full list of features as SEMrush presents them on their site.

The amount of data available on SEMrush can be confusing at times. But SEMrush has some great training materials and guides to help you every step of the way.

MOZ: 5 billion searches done every day, be visible.

Launched in 2004 by Rand Fishkin, MOZ first started out as an SEO consulting company before developing its own SEO tool.

Notions of Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA)

Since the disappearance of the display of PageRank in Google, experts in Digital Marketing seek to understand how Google’s algorithm works. There are of course:

  • The 200 criteria of the algorithm  via  Backlinko,
  • Or the periodic table of Search Engine Land SEO.

But MOZ also developed the notion of authority:

  • The domain name authority (Domain Authority or DA) ( source MOZ ).
  • And that of a page (Page Authority or PA) ( source MOZ ).

Domain name authority is a ranking metric that predicts the ranking of a website. This is one of the industry standards that all experts use when talking about SEO and ranking on search results pages.

AD is measured on a scale of 1 to 100. The closer you are to 100, the better your ranking. The more traffic you get from Google, the more chances you have of winning new customers.

And, you guessed it, a low DA can lead to huge traffic and rank losses. This is why it is important to have a good “Domain Authority”.

I could repeat the same for the PA but at the page level.

Your site’s PA and DA are calculated by MOZ every month. It is therefore important to keep a watchful eye on these 2 important metrics regularly. And obviously, only MOZ tools offer them 🙂

A comprehensive collection of free tools

Semrush Or Moz: Which Is The Best SEO Tool?

For those of you on a tight budget or who don’t yet want to invest in SEO tools, the free services offered by Moz are recognized as industry standards. I use them regularly.

Open Site Explorer

This is my favorite free tool from Moz.

You can access the profile of a URL, the authority of its domain name, and that of the URL page.

In addition, OSE gives you inbound links to this page. So you discover free link building opportunities.

For the example below, I took again lemonde.fr as an example to access their DA (94 out of 100) and the PA of their home page (70 out of 100). On the right, you can also see their backlinks profile, which numbered 12137!

Keyword Explorer

Find the best keywords for your industry from a comprehensive database.

MozBar

MozBar offers an overview of Page Authority (PA) and Domain Authority (DA) of pages right in your Chrome browser. The Moz toolbar is the way to take advantage of MOZ information without having to log into their site. Here is the link to download the Chrome extension for free.

If you use these tools for free, you can perform up to 3 searches per day.

Rand Fishkin

From the start of MOZ, Rand Fishkin established himself as a thought leader for natural referencing (SEO). He is also one of the most ingenious Digital Marketing experts I have come across. You can follow him on Twitter to stay on top of SEO and Content Marketing techniques.

In addition, Moz has incredible SEO and Content Marketing resources that you can browse for free. If you’re just starting out, Moz certainly has the best must-read resources to familiarize yourself with SEO tactics. Their Beginner’s Guide to SEO  is perhaps the best SEO guide I’ve read. t

Moz also has an amazing blog that I visit regularly. In particular, their weekly video, Whiteboard Friday, featuring Rand Fishkin, which you must tune in every week. takipçi satın al
