How to Renew Driving License Online & Offline in India?
In India, having a license is not enough as you need to renew it as soon as it expires. You will never be able to drive your car on Indian roads without carrying one because driving without a license is a crime in India.
The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for every driver of a motor vehicle to have a valid driver’s license. A driver’s license is an official document issued by the Indian government confirming a person to drive on Indian roads.
Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 states that no person may drive in India without a valid DL and to do so is a punishable offense that may result in a fine of Rs. 500 or 3 months of imprisonment.
A permanent driver’s license is valid for 20 years or up to the age of 50 years, depending on the first one. An expired driver’s license is valid for one month only, which means you can renew it by paying the fine. If the expired license is not renewed within five years from the expiry date, you will need to obtain a new driver’s license.
