Tracking a tiger

Tracking tigers is an art and learning process can go on indefinitely. At times tracking tigers is far more exciting than sighting them during tiger safari in India.Finding their pug marks, listening to the alarm calls of prey animals and birds, seeing other signs like tiger droppings, sitting and scratch marks take you really close to tigers. At times you might not see a tiger, but be assured that the tiger would have seen you.

Sometimes you will hear the tiger roar from close proximity and yet not see them. There is no powerful sound than a roar of an unseen tiger close by in a jungle during a tiger safari in India. • Respect the jungle and its environment

1. Avoid wearing bright colors. Go with earth colors like greens, beige, and brown. Avoid use of any kind of perfume ass the animals have strong sense of smell.
2. No Smoking or drinking liquor inside the park.
3. Do not litter inside or outside the vehicle.
4. Do not feed the animals in the jungle.

• Tiger Safari vehicle rules

1. Keep movement within the vehicle to the minimum, especially when you sight an animal as this can scare the animals and birds.
2. Do not get off the safari vehicle
3. The guide and drivers would indicate the specified .
4. If any animal gets closer to the jeep do not try and touch it. Similarly, if proximity to an animal makes you uncomfortable, feel free to let the guide and driver know.
5. Always hold on to the iron bar in front or side of your seat to prevent falling or hurting oneself. Remember, despite experienced drivers, the uneven terrain can pose unforeseen challenges.

• Camera Equipment rules

1. Camera should be at no flash.
2. Avoid carrying a mobile phone as there is no network inside the park. However, if you still do, make sure to keep it on silent or on vibration mode.
3. Always carry proper camera bags etc to protect the equipment from sudden showers, dust etc.
4. Big lens like a 400mm upwards or any prime lens for photography ask resort for a bean bag

• Do your research

1. Do research on weather and the expected temperatures during safaris.
2. Use the washrooms in the hotel, or near the park entry gate (not all the park entries have washrooms). Avoid drinking lot of water before the safari to avoid visit to the washroom. Always carry a sanitizer in case you need to use the make shift toilets in the park.
3. Carry a mask if allergic to dust.
4. The vehicle is open from top.  A hat is a good option to have along with Sunscreen.
5. Carry some snacks and cookies and a bottle of water in case you feel hungry and thirsty during the safari.
6. Have a light lunch before the afternoon safari
7. Please be cautious of your personal belongings. Do not leave them behind in the open vehicle while going to the toilet.
8. Carry your passport or the  same photo id that you gave while booking the safari permit.
9. It helps to tip the guide and driver at the end of the safari. Tipping is not necessary, however if you are happy with their service you might like to give them.  It is ideal to tip at the end of the last safari. The guides and drivers are on rotation basis, so tip them at end of each safari.
10. And last, but not the least, always make it a point to share your feedback after a safari.
