Allopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurveda : A Comparison

The three main medication systems popular worldwide are Ayurveda, homeopathy, and allopathy. Each of them have different principles and work on different alliances. All of them originated from different places and have different histories.

The most ancient one in the world is Ayurveda which is over more than two millennia old. Then there comes homeopathy and the modern one is allopathy. Let’s go through a brief comparison to know about all the three more precisely.

Ayurveda

The origin of ayurveda is said to be traced around 6000 BCE. Some of the concepts have existed since the Indus Valley Civilization. The recorded form of Ayurveda has been evolved from the Vedas.

It is one of the few systems developed in ancient times that is still practiced in this modern era. The theory and practice of ayurveda is pseudoscientific and are heavily practiced in India and Nepal.

The ayurvedic therapies include special diets, medicine, yoga, massage, meditation, enemas, laxatives, and medical oils. Ayurvedic medicines are typically based on complex herbal compounds, minerals, and metal substances.

The ancient ayurveda texts even taught surgical techniques including kidney stone extractions, rhinoplasty, sutures and extraction of foreign objects.

The word Ayurveda means knowledge of life and longevity.

Ayurvedic medicines are divided into eight components including general medicine, pediatrics, ENT treatments, surgical techniques, pacification, toxicology, rejuvenation, and aphrodisiacs. As per Ayurveda, the human body is composed of tissues, biomaterials and waste. It has historically divided bodily substances into five classical elements including water, earth, fire, air and ether.

 Homeopathy

Another pseudoscientific system of alternative medicine is homeopathy that was convinced by the German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796. The practitioners of homeopathy are called homeopaths that research and study all the elements well to make the eligible medicine.

The concept of homeopathy believes that a substance that causes symptoms of disease in healthy people can cure similar symptoms in sick people. Nowadays there is online homeopathic consultation that makes it easier to reach the patient whenever required.

All the scientific knowledge about chemistry, biochemistry, physics and biology gained at least the mid 19th century contradicts homeopathy. It achieved the greatest popularity in the 19th century. Hahnemann’s theory of disease-centered around the principles he termed miasms.

There are several homeopathic remedies made using the homeopathic dilutions in which the selected substance is repeatedly diluted until the final product is chemically indistinguishable from the diluent.

In the early stage of homeopathy, Hahnemann started to test what effect various substances may produce in humans. It required subjects to test the effects of the ingesting system by recording all their symptoms as well as ancillary conditions under which they appear. He noted each and every symptom and published a collection of homeopathic provings in 1805 and the second provings in 1810.

Allopathy

Also known as Western medicine, biomedicine, evidence-based medicine and modern medicine the concept of homeopathy was coined in the 19th century. The terms allopathy and allopathic medicine are drawn from Greek. The practice of medicine in both Europe and North America started during the early 19th century. It is sometimes also referred to as heroic medicine because of certain extreme measures.

The medicine was based on the belief that a disease is caused by imbalance among the four humors present in the human body. It sought to treat the disease symptoms by correcting that imbalance using some harsh and abusive methods to induce the symptoms. Allopathic medicine refers to the broad category of medical practice that is sometimes called western medicine.

In the modern era allopathy is used to differentiate between two types of US medical schools that are allopathic and osteopathic. These conventional medicines make use of drugs and radiation to make pills and tablets that cure the disease at optimum. One thing about conventional medicine that makes it popular among the users is that it starts acting sooner on the body as compared to homeopathic and ayurvedic pills.

Which one to Choose?

When it comes to choosing among one then it’s difficult to choose which one to choose as all of them are best on their own. There are some circumstances under which the medicine may not be suitable for someone so for this first the person should consult someone and then he or she should go for further treatment.

Each one has some merits and demerits so that you can easily compare all of them and choose the desired one.

Choosing Allopathy:

Allopathy is modern medicine that relies on certain scientific principles and has evidence of each and every proving and this may be the main reason why people choose allopathy. Another thing is that it works faster on the symptoms in just a few hours or one or two days and cures the disease rapidly.

But one thing that it lacks is the side effects. It is not perfectly suitable for everyone and may have some side effects.

Choosing Homeopathy:

It is an old method that has been practiced worldwide since the 18th century. Homeopathy believes that the body has the ability to cure itself with certain changes that occur in the body due to the passage of time. People also choose homeopathy as it has no side effects and is even affordable for everyone.

It believes in less medication and more results due to which people need to eat just a minimum amount of small white and sweet pills. Homeopathy for autism is believed to be highly effective.

Choosing Ayurveda:

The oldest one still has the most powerful reason to be the best. Whether it’s natural food, fruit or drinks they are always best for our health and body. Then how can we deny that natural medicinal plants can’t cure the disease? They are totally safe with no side effects and do not harm the body in any aspect. Most senior people choose Ayurveda as they think that it is the best among all.

You can choose any of the three systems but when it comes to life threatening diseases then you should definitely go for allopathy as they give rapid relief and for minor diseases, ayurveda and homeopathy are the best therefore all the three can’t be compared with each other.

Effectiveness of Allopathy, Homeopathy, and Ayurveda

It is of no worth to compare the effectiveness of all three methods as each of them rely on different principles and concepts.

Allopathy

If we talk about effectiveness then the most effective method nowadays is allopathy. People choose it on a higher basis as they give quick relief in just a few hours. This is the reason why it is considered to be one of the most preferred treatments. They prove to be the best pick for life-threatening diseases.

Homeopathy

It is the best alternative to allopathy but when compared to it, homeopathy takes a bit longer to cure the diseases. The more time it takes, the more proper its treatment goes. When it comes to effectiveness then homeopathy stands out to be the most desirable one. Homeopathy can be adopted by kids as well.

Ayurveda

As compared to the older times, ayurveda is now not that much popular. The origins of ayurveda have been found thousands of years ago. The method is still popular as people think that any disease that occurs naturally can also be cured naturally. Therefore some natural medicinal plants are used in preparing the medicines of ayurveda.
