Beauty at its Peak

The city is declared as the greenest city of Pakistan, and also belongs to the list of the world’s most beautiful capital cities. It has many picnic points and family parks waiting for the visitors to provide them with moments of peace and serenity.

The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation and Capital Development Authority are responsible for maintaining and planning the green areas in Islamabad. The city is divided into eight separate zones; these zones cover an area of 85 square miles that is solely devoted to parks in Islamabad. While there are many places you can visit in the capital city, the green areas are always at the top of the list.

The city is home to the biggest mosque in the country, Shah Faisal Mosque, sitting at the bottom of the Margalla Hills.

The Most Beautiful Parks

As mentioned above, the green city has an abundance of spots where you can enjoy a peaceful time with your family and friends. The parks are located on beautiful landscapes and give the visitors some incredibly scenic views.

Lake View Park

The reason why this park is known amongst the residents as one of the best parks in Islamabad to visit is the magnificent view of Rawal lake. 

There are unlimited activities that a visitor can take part in, from taking long walks along the length of the river to enjoying water-related sports as well as watching the most unique and beautiful birds relaxing alongside the bank of the river.

If you wish to, you can also plan a full day picnic in the park, take a blanket with your family or friends, order drinks and food from the many eateries inside the park and relax! Oh, and the park has many outdoor activities that you can take part in, such as horse riding, bird watching and boating.

Did we mention that Lake View Park is home to the biggest aviary in Pakistan? 

Due to the huge space the park covers, it is not easy for the visitors to walk everywhere, sue to which the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has provided the residents with golf carts and passenger trains, to make it easy for them.

Fatima Jinnah Park

Named after Madr-e-Millat, the Fatima Jinnah Park is one of the highly visited parks of the green city. The park is located in one of the most luxurious areas in Islamabad, F-9. The area is widely popular for houses for sale in Islamabad. Shakarparian park is one of the highly visited parks in the country.

The park is covered with trees and shrubbery, with marble structures placed all over the park. This park also has many jogging tracks, where fitness freaks can visit the park every day. Fatima Jinnah Park is also quite safe for both your children and joggers as well, as the place is secured with fences, so you don’t have to worry about any criminal activity or wildlife.

While sitting in Fatima Jinnah Park, you can enjoy piping hot tea with your family under the shadows of the Margalla Hills.

Japanese Children’s Park

Parks in Islamabad

The park is located in the foothills of the Margalla Hills. The Japanese Children’s park was a gift from the Japanese Government for the kids of the city. It acts as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. 

Made specifically for kids, the park has many rides and swings. From monkey bars to horse riding facilities as well as tree houses and various other activities, the park has it all. As soon as you step into the park, you will feel like you are standing in Japan. The trees grown in the park in Islamabad, are similar to the ones that can be found in Japan. 

There are also tracks for you to jog on, while your kids play on the rides and swings. If you are not interested in jogging, you can also play cricket or football, as the place is quite big enough.

Oh, and if you feel hungry, you can munch on the light snacks provided in the refreshment area.

Rose and Jasmine Garden

Rose and Jasmine Garden

The park has bouquets upon bouquets of flowers, especially Roses and Jasmine, thus the name of the garden, Rose and Jasmine Garden.

This park covers an area of 40 Kanal and has over 200 varieties of roses and many types of Jasmine. The Islamabad horticulture society has been given the responsibility of maintenance of the park, as well as organising various flower and bird shows in the park.

There are also many restaurants in the area, such as the Ravi Restaurant, Subway, Nirvana Café and many others.

Shakarparian National Park

Shakarparian

The park is located right in the middle of the most important neighbourhood of the city, near the zero point interchange. The park has many monuments and artifacts for those interested in history.

It is considered one of the best tourist spots in the Islamabad Capital Territory. There is plenty of green area in the park for the ones who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan. The Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, as well as the Pakistan Monument, is located inside the limits of the park.

The area is bustling with trees, giving the visitors a day worth of peace and serenity. Located at a height of 609 meters, the Shakarparian National Park gives the most magnificent scenes of the entire city. 

You don’t have to bring bags full of snacks if feel hungry during your day-long trip to the park. You can easily get snacks and other refreshments from the cafes and restaurants built inside the park. The Yogi Haus, Breeze Restaurants and the 1969 café is located near the Pakistan Monument.

One of the facilities that this huge park provides is the various jogging tracks and walkways, where you can jog in a secure and peaceful environment. 

The special thing about the park is that there is a small area inside the park, reserved for dignitaries; these dignitaries can plant seeds, to symbolize peace and fraternity between countries.
